Testimonal : Kieran Story "The Introduction"

advice-placeholder-1My name is Kieran Story, class of 2010. I was born here in Louisville, KY and am now a junior at Louisville Male High School where I hold a 3.0 GPA and am involved in programs such as Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Men of Quality and Black Achievers. I enjoy sports (football and track are my favorites), spending time with friends, movies and listening to music. I started playing football at the age of 7 and participated in my first track meet as an 8th  grader. As a Freshman I had the honor of participating on our high school state championship 4x400m relay and was the only freshman on the overall State Championship Team. Over the last year I have participated on the state champion 4x100m and 4x200m relays and started as Corner and Running back in several varsity football games. I began my college search about 6 months ago by researching schools with flight and/or aircraft engineering programs. I’ve also looked in to the possibility of being a coroner. I know a complete opposite area, but the challenge of figuring out the why and how behind crimes have become a fascination of mine. My goal is to be able to find a school that offers a field I want to study and who wants me to be a part of their athletic program, but I know that if I don’t get the best of both worlds, I’ll still be OK. read more

"Managers" for High School Football Players?

advice-placeholder-2I was invited to attend the national signing day festivities at our school on February 4; what a day! As I stood in the audience and watched my team mate announce his selection, and then listened to the speeches from him and our coach I was in awe. I couldn’t help but wonder if there would be as many cameras and reporters here next year when I make my decision; I sure hope so. I thought about how fortunate he is to be one of the few student athletes to have his entire college education paid for, and he gets to enjoy himself over those years doing something he loves - playing football. Not to mention that he had options; he was able to make his decision based on HIS plan, what he wants to do with HIS future. This is the kind of decision I want to have the choice to make. No matter what the selection though, the reward is in the offer, not just from your selected school, but all the schools that want you to be a part of their program. read more
